Anyone been to Vicenza, Italy recently that could give me some information about it?

My husband wants to explore our options of possibly getting stationed at Vicenza. I was just curious as to how expensive Italy is compared to the United States. I see how much the COLA is for that place, and I'm blown away. We used to live in Hawaii and we made out pretty decent because as long as you shopped at the Commissary or the NEX/PX/Outlets you barely had to touch the COLA much. So is there a commissary and PX there? Are there prices over the top compared to the states? If you live there currently a list of basic items like milk, eggs, ground beef, chicken, and such with prices would be nice :)
